Zac Annis is a Cornwall-based artist creating raw, expressive abstract works. His art is rough and unfiltered, influenced by the energy of artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ken Spooner, the COBRA art movement, and Outsider art.
He paints on found objects—old frames, wooden planks, boards, or any junk that he finds interesting —allowing their textures to become part of the work. Using mainly acrylic paints, pastels, oil sticks, spray paint, but also whatever is at hand, he builds up layers with a spontaneous, instinctive approach.
Music is a key part of his process, often shaping the movement and mood of each piece. The music he listens to while working influences the energy of his marks, often, lyrics or phrases find their way into the work, creating a connection between sound and image. Some of the biggest influences include Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, Mount Eerie, Frank Ocean and Kanye West.
Zac completed an Art and Design Diploma at Truro College with distinction in 2023 and became a young member of the St Ives Society of Artists in 2025.
