My task as a painter is to render my feelings, emotions and reactions to the world I live in, through the materiality of paint.

I arrived in Cornwall in 1983, to study in Falmouth on the BA Fine Art. I had completed a foundation course in Bangor, North Wales prior to this. I work directly from observation, transversing between figuration and abstraction. Working intuitively my goal is to find a balance between these polar opposites in painterly terms (traditionally each one is an anathema of the other) and to develop my language and realise my vision.
I make paintings of the environment around me – the landscape, interiors in which I live, and the seasonal flowers, that bring colour and joy into our lives. I have had solo exhibitions at Belgrave St Ives, when they were located in town. For twelve years I was the resident artist at Anchor Studio, in Newlyn, leading up to its renovation. At the end of this period my paintings were exhibited at Penlee House, Penzance, in the ‘Discovering Anchor Studio: An Artists’ Haven in Newlyn’. Currently I am working towards a solo exhibition in 2025.
