As a mixed media artist and maker I enjoy working with a variety of materials producing paintings, artists’ books, sculptures and collaged hangings.

My work is often in a subtle palette of greys and soft blues and many of my abstract paintings are an intuitive exploration of a textured, mixed media painted surface where the final outcome is often unknown. I tend to build up layers of paint with heavy textured mediums, handmade papers, plaster and sand which form an interesting surface to work on.

Some of my pieces include hand stitch and textiles together with a variety of found objects such as rusty nails, beach finds and fragments of vintage papers, documents and handwriting which create an interesting fusion of techniques. These same processes are also generally used in my hangings, handmade books and sculptures. The use of sketchbooks is an integral part of my working process.

Artist's CV

Originally from Oxfordshire, we moved to St Ives in 2000 and for several years I had my own studio gallery in our home on The Terrace that overlooked Porthminster Beach and the harbour.

For eight years I was part of Back Road Artworks, a gallery run by a collective of local artists and in 2021 I moved to a new studio gallery at Whites Old Workshops in the heart of Downalong, St Ives.

I now work from my inspiring Garden Studio at ourcottage in St Ives town – and visitors are welcome (by appointment only).
