MEG STEWART

I am a fine artist based in Illogan, Cornwall. I graduated from Falmouth College of Art in 1999 with a BA (Hons) in Illustration and immediately began my artistic career working for a design agency creating artwork for the greetings industry.

It was amid this busy time in my career that I decided to take a break and raise my three children – although living in Portreath and inspired by my local landscape I was still painting and successfully selling giclee prints of my artwork. When I returned to work in 2018,  it was as a Studio Technician at the St Ives School of Painting, progressing onto Studio Manager in 2020.

Whilst continuing in my much-loved job at the St Ives School of Painting, I create artwork in my studio at home. In the past few years I have enjoyed freeing up my style and exploring a new way of working after being trained in a tighter illustrative manner.

Colour is my passion, it truly excites me and living by the sea heavily influences my work with much of my inspiration coming from my daily journey to and from St Ives where each day fascinatingly delivers a remarkably different light and mood.
