A one week exhibition of abstract works by Peter Giles and Zoe Eaton, alongside events and classes . Held in the beautiful Crypt gallery space, downstairs in the St Ives Society of Artists, Norway Square.
During the week members of the public are invited to contribute to a large abstract Drawing, ‘Presence‘ and watch it develop over the course of the week. On Friday, the work will be torn into smaller pieces to create many new artworks which you are invited to take away. On Sunday, Peter Giles (aka Bobby Wotnot) will play a live DJ set of ambient music. On Monday, Thursday and Friday we hold our usual drawing events, see descriptions at the top of the page.
Peter Giles creates delicate and intricate line drawings primarily on paper using a range of contemporary marker pens and fine liners. Also from time to time working with gouache, gel pens and ‘real’ ink with a variety of dipping pen and nib, glass and bamboo. Zoe’s paintings explore aesthetic balance and tension between improvised loose, free marks with a poetic compositions and strong use of colour – creating a sense of playfulness and joy. Her uplifting colour palette helps to create a sense of joy. Zoe will be exhibiting new large oil paintings on canvas, a series of oil paintings on small A5 sized canvas titled ‘Small Components Of Happy,’ and oil stick drawings on paper.
