Alan Shailes is a Cornish artist specialising in traditional oil paintings of Cornwall’s North Coast.
Born in Porthtowan and now living and working in Falmouth, Alan has always had an association with the sea & coast from his earliest memories.
Having spent 40 years surfing in Cornwall and around the world, Alan has an intrinsic understanding of the nature of the sea, movement of water and coastal atmosphere which is reflected within his representational style.
Alan’s work has benefitted after having been mentored and tutored, in a traditional atelier style, by Jamie Medlin – one of the worlds leading marine artists and a fellow lover of all things Cornish, particularly the sea & coast in all it’s forms.
Alan may also include art from other artists, including Jamie within the exhibition.
