NICK PRAED

The sea is very much the feature in Nick's work, however it is now more about capturing the beauty of the Cornish coastline and it's ever changing moods.

The sea is very much the feature in Nick’s work, however it is now more about capturing the beauty of the Cornish coastline and it’s ever changing moods. You will still find the odd throw back to the fishing industry, a job in which he still dips in and out. Nick’s subject matter has shifted to the many cliffs, coves and headlands of this beautiful county.

Artist's CV

Nick was born in the fishing village of Newlyn in 1974.

When he was 18yrs old he started netting whilst painting in his spare time. Nick moved to Ireland when he was 23yrs old and fished out of Dunmore East near Waterford. During this time he also went travelling round the world, fishing in Western Australia along the way.

In 2003 he moved back to Cornwall and continued fishing. Nick bought an ex-Irish fishing trawler in 2006 which for several years he has been renovating as a houseboat/studio. He now works as a skipper on a survey vessel and enjoys painting in his spare time.
