DESCRIPTION:Lamorna Comes to St.Ives \nFounded in the 1950’s by Mornie Kerr\, daughter of Royal Academician S.J. Lamorna Birch\,\nsix members of the Lamorna Group of artists are bringing their work to St.Ives. Their\nSummer Exhibition at The Crypt Gallery\, Norway Square will run from Saturday August 1st to\nFriday August 7th 2026. \nFeaturing work by Cathie Ashley\, Roz Astin\, Sarah Howell\, Paulette Perry\, Sally Peterson and\nKen Swift\, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of artistic styles\, united by a shared\nconnection to Cornwall’s landscape\, light and changing seasons. \nThe Group follows in the footsteps of a rich artistic heritage in Lamorna\, which has inspired\ngenerations of artists including Birch himself\, Alfred Munnings\, Laura Knight and Ithell\nColquhoun. Meeting throughout the year on a weekly basis the current group paint\, learn\nand critique together creating a supportive and collaborative artistic community. \nEmerging from the challenges and disruption caused by Storm Gorétti\, the exhibition reflects\nboth resilience and optimism with work that responds to nature\, atmosphere and\nenvironment through a variety of media\, techniques and interpretations.\nLocal artist and group member Sally Peterson\, who also runs the Roundhouse Gallery at\nSennen Cove\, said: \n“What makes this exhibition special is the diversity of the work. Each artist approaches\npainting differently\, but there is a shared sense of light\, colour and optimism throughout the\nexhibition.” \nFellow artist Ken Swift\, owner of Penwith Framing Gallery\, added:\n“One of the strengths of the group is that people are prepared to push their own work in\ndifferent directions. You’ll see traditional landscape alongside much more contemporary\npieces\, but all of it comes from artists who are actively painting\, discussing and developing\ntheir work together on a regular basis.” \nThe Lamorna Group Summer Exhibition runs from Saturday 1st \nAugust to Friday 7th August \n2026 at The Crypt Gallery\, Norway Square\, St Ives\, Cornwall TR26 1NA. All are welcome to\nthe Private View on Saturday 1st from 5.00 – 7.30 pm. \nThe exhibition is open daily from 10:30am to 5:00pm. Admission is free and all are welcome. \nAn Opening Party will take place on Saturday 1 August from 5:00pm to 7:30pm\, and\nvisitors are warmly invited to meet the artists and celebrate the start of the exhibition.

She runs Marigold-Moth\, a sustainable clothing shop in Penzance\, Cornwall.  \nIn addition to this\, Teagan manages the design and production of several collaborative clothing collections per year for various other independent womenswear labels.​ Teagan is also a freelance magazine editor and enjoys guest lecturing at various colleges and universities.

Our annual fundraising art sale takes place at the Mariners Gallery in Norway Square. During this one-day event\, visitors and collectors can purchase original square paintings created by talented member artists for just £60 each. All proceeds go towards the maintenance of our historic building. \nAll artwork will be available to view in the gallery in the week before. The sale begins at 10am and anyone looking to participate will be invited to queue outside. Paintings will be sold on a first come first served basis\, one painting per person\, and gallery staff will be there to guide you.
