We’ll experiment with paper cutting\, watercolour and collage\, taking inspiration from poetry\, art books and a wonderful selection of creative resources that I’ll bring along\, including my own sketchbooks. \nYour ticket includes a concertina sketchbook and a selection of materials to get you started\, with plenty more to explore throughout the session. There’ll be lots of time for making\, chatting and sharing ideas in a welcoming\, gentle atmosphere—perfect whether you’re looking to spark your creativity or simply enjoy a few hours of relaxed art-making. \nPlease bring: your own watercolour paints and some collage papers. Everything else you’ll need will be provided. \nTickets can be purchased from the St Ives Box Office: \n     \n— \nAbout Teagan:  \n​After studying Costume Design at the London College of Fashion\, Teagan Pharoah-Green moved back to St. Ives and set up the sustainable clothing label\, Fierce Flora in 2020​. She runs Marigold-Moth\, a sustainable clothing shop in Penzance\, Cornwall.  \nIn addition to this\, Teagan manages the design and production of several collaborative clothing collections per year for various other independent womenswear labels.​ Teagan is also a freelance magazine editor and enjoys guest lecturing at various colleges and universities.

DESCRIPTION:Lamorna Comes to St.Ives \nFounded in the 1950’s by Mornie Kerr\, daughter of Royal Academician S.J. Lamorna Birch\,\nsix members of the Lamorna Group of artists are bringing their work to St.Ives. Their\nSummer Exhibition at The Crypt Gallery\, Norway Square will run from Saturday August 1st to\nFriday August 7th 2026. \nFeaturing work by Cathie Ashley\, Roz Astin\, Sarah Howell\, Paulette Perry\, Sally Peterson and\nKen Swift\, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of artistic styles\, united by a shared\nconnection to Cornwall’s landscape\, light and changing seasons. \nThe Group follows in the footsteps of a rich artistic heritage in Lamorna\, which has inspired\ngenerations of artists including Birch himself\, Alfred Munnings\, Laura Knight and Ithell\nColquhoun. Meeting throughout the year on a weekly basis the current group paint\, learn\nand critique together creating a supportive and collaborative artistic community. \nEmerging from the challenges and disruption caused by Storm Gorétti\, the exhibition reflects\nboth resilience and optimism with work that responds to nature\, atmosphere and\nenvironment through a variety of media\, techniques and interpretations.\nLocal artist and group member Sally Peterson\, who also runs the Roundhouse Gallery at\nSennen Cove\, said: \n“What makes this exhibition special is the diversity of the work. Each artist approaches\npainting differently\, but there is a shared sense of light\, colour and optimism throughout the\nexhibition.” \nFellow artist Ken Swift\, owner of Penwith Framing Gallery\, added:\n“One of the strengths of the group is that people are prepared to push their own work in\ndifferent directions. You’ll see traditional landscape alongside much more contemporary\npieces\, but all of it comes from artists who are actively painting\, discussing and developing\ntheir work together on a regular basis.” \nThe Lamorna Group Summer Exhibition runs from Saturday 1st \nAugust to Friday 7th August \n2026 at The Crypt Gallery\, Norway Square\, St Ives\, Cornwall TR26 1NA. All are welcome to\nthe Private View on Saturday 1st from 5.00 – 7.30 pm. \nThe exhibition is open daily from 10:30am to 5:00pm. DESCRIPTION:Dangerous Friendships is a dynamic group exhibition bringing together four distinct and divergent artistic voices living in Cornwall. \nIn her work\, Jaki Marshall explores the tension between public identity and private self\, revealing the contradictions that shape how we present ourselves to the world. Her practice probes the fragile boundary between what is performed and what is concealed. \nJen Donkin Gourley creates bright\, colourful and playful functional ceramics that balance joy with utility. Her pieces celebrate form and surface\, transforming everyday objects into vibrant expressions of personality and craft. \nEntirely immersed in the possibilities of the medium\, Graham Pullen is engrossed in screen printing techniques. His work investigates process and repetition\, pushing the boundaries of print through a sustained and rigorous engagement with material and method. \nWorking across painting\, printmaking and collage\, Susi Gutiérrez explores themes of travel\, memory and storytelling. Through experimental approaches and layered compositions\, her practice evokes personal and collective journeys\, weaving narrative through image and texture. \nTogether\, these four artists form a compelling dialogue — one that reflects difference\, connection and the creative tensions that emerge when divergent practices share space.

SUMMARY:From Cornwall with Love in the Crypt Gallery
DESCRIPTION:To Cornwall with love…\nDecember 6th – 12th \nIs an exhibition of paintings that acts as a\nvisual love letter from and to Cornwall. \nI recognise that many of us have a deep\nconnection\, and we collectively enjoy and\nshare our love\, for Cornwall- its land\, coast\nand the warmth of its people. The memories\nand stories shared enable us to feel that we\nbelong and we carry and hold other’s\nmemories too. \nOften\, a painting can hold a moment- an\nemotion\, a feeling of a day\, the weather\, the\nlight\, the feeling of the sea\, the smell of the\nsalt\, the kindness of our valley gardens and\ndaily walks past those trees we know.\nI paint on site and then in reflection back in\nmy studio in Falmouth and my hope that\nsome of the energy and feeling of these\nmoments are captured in paint –where we\nare transported back to our ‘place’ (that \ncoast\, field or garden) and to the emotion of\nbeing there. \nI aim to acknowledge the comfort of places\none knows-the reverie of being completely\nimmersed in the Cornish landscape.\nMy work therefor embodies a deeply rooted\nconnection with ‘place’-the spirit of place-and\nexplores the connectivity of collective\nmemory through sharing art with others that\nrelate to these places too. \nThe viewer is invited to walk with me around\nour coast\, and the land that skirts the sea.\nThese places\, captured in paint\, are just a\nsnap shot in time\, as each day brings new\nexperiences\, sensation and feelings and the\npotential for new memories\, more connection\nand understanding of the depth of connection\nwe have. ‘ Cornwall with love’\, invites us to\ncherish this connection and look after it. We\nare custodians of Cornwall and the memories\nit gives us and I celebrate this through paint. \nI hope you enjoy. Love\, Victoria

SUMMARY:TAKING SPACE in the Crypt Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Taking Space at the Crypt St Ives\, March 29 to April 4\, 2025\, 11-4 Daily \nTaking Space\, the well known women’s collective based in St Ives\, are returning to exhibit in the wonderful space of the Crypt\, below the Mariners’ Church\, home of St Ives Society of Artists\, Norway Square\, up behind the Sloop Inn in the harbour. \nThis time they have a new member\, Trace Wildinger\, who is a self taught artist who moved to St Ives two years ago. She has a science and biodiversity background with  a deep love of the natural world as well as her painting and drawing\, and is a volunteer at the Community Orchard\, contributing her knowledge of growing vegetables. \nIn her work she seeks to bring out her feelings and thoughts about places\, not being too detailed. She  is inspired by Cornwall and also must absorb some of the art that surrounds her when she works on the early shift cleaning at Tate before visitors arrive. \nTaking Space welcome applications from original women artists\, who can enquire at maryfletcherart@icloud.com  The group operate democratically\, which is quite unusual in the art world\,  and welcome diversity. \nAlso showing work this time are Jen Donkin Gourley\, whose love of colour is expressed  through the vibrant decoration of her ceramic vessels. Each piece is unique and thrown on the wheel. \nSuzanne Stobbs has been using felting techniques embellished with different threads and wools to make colourful glowing compositions employing Cornish landscape elements. \nLinda Mary Jones continues to explore narratives that reference  the origins of human life whilst also observing the present and painting expressively and imaginatively. She says\,  My paintings reflect my interest in human life from earliest times until today – how we struggle to survive in our environment and how we try to control it and leave our mark.” \nMary Fletcher observes contemporary life and her pictures are both personal and political. She uses a veriety of media and a long practised swift drawing. \nAltogether it should be a stimulating show and artists will be there to talk to visitors. \nThere will be cards and unframed work as well as the main displays. \nThe artists like to read comments in the visitors’ book and to connect personally with their wide audience as well as enjoying sending items that are sold out into the world.
