SUMMARY:WHAT LIES BENEATH in the Crypt Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Date: 10th – 15th March 2024 \nOpen: 10.30 – 5pm daily \nPrivate view: Saturday 9th March 4pm to 7pm all welcome \nTina Hill\, Liz & Dominic Hewitt are three West Country artists who share a passion for both the physicality and emotionality of the Cornish Landscape. \nShowing for the first time in the Crypt Gallery\, this exhibition is a result of many years exploring the paths\, beaches\, archaeological and industrial sites of Cornwall. \nDistilling their experiences into a visual archive using mixed media\, painting\, print\, textile art and photography\, Dominic\, Liz & Tina show us not just the surfaces textures but dig deeper to show What Lies Beneath. \nTina Hill \nTina is inspired by archaeology\, geology and museum artefact. The marks and stains of\ntime. \nFor this exhibition she is showing both paintings and unique mixed media prints that are\ninspired by and conceived in Cornwall\, often using pigments sourced from the Cornish land\nitself.\nInstagram: tinahillart www.tinahillart.co.uk \nLiz Hewitt \nIn this exhibition Liz is documenting the marks left on the Cornish Landscape by the tin\nmining industry with rust printed papers\, mixed media collage\, prints and handmade\nbooks.\nThe cloth & paper used has been coloured / stained with rust & earth pigments collected\nfrom walks along the coastal paths & beaches\, leaving an impression of past times.\nInstagram: stitchliz www.celticstitch.co.uk \nDominic Hewitt \nDominic is fascinated by the remnants of our industrial past; the discarded\, the decaying\nand the rusted. In his photographs he enhances the colours to reveal their underlying\nbeauty\, their texture and form\, giving us alternative and deeper insights into what is left\nbehind. His work follows the decline of the mining and fishing industries in Cornwall and\nbeyond. \nInstagram: needlevisionphotography www.needlevision.co.uk
