founded in 1927
Lee Stevenson is a native of West Cornwall. He trained in oil painting at Falmouth School of Art and at North Staffordshire University, but it was not until returning to Cornwall in 1985 when he met Sue Lewington at the Penzance School of Art that he took up intaglio printmaking.
He became a founder member of the Penwith Printmakers in 1987 and joined the St Ives Society of Artists the same year. He also joined the Cornwall Crafts Association and now continues to exhibit with all three societies as well as with galleries throughout the south west.
Group exhibitions include:
The Roundhouse, Sennen; The Great Atlantic Map Works Galleries;
Out of the Blue, Marazion; The New Craftsman, St Ives;
The Contemporary Print Show, The Barbican, London;
Twenty Years of Contemporary Art at Falmouth Art Gallery;
Elements of Craft at Truro Museum.
Lee designed a lino-block print as the motif for the 18th Celtic Television and Film Festival at St Ives.
He continues to work from his home near Penzance.
